The legal declaration by God that a sinner is righteous, based on faith in Christ. God counts Christ's perfect righteousness to the believer's account, and the believer's sin to Christ's.

Definition
The reconciliation between God and humanity made possible through Christ's sacrificial death on the cross. It covers, removes, and pays the penalty for sin.
