Sharing Your Faith

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,”

Jesus is telling his followers to go out into the world and teach others about his message, not just keep it to themselves. The word 'disciples' simply means students or learners. “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.””

“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?”

“But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,”

“Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.”

'Preach the word' simply means to communicate what you believe openly and honestly. “Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.”

This verse uses two vivid images — 'grace' meaning warmth and goodwill, and 'salt' meaning something that adds flavor and makes things interesting — to describe how believers should speak with others about their faith. It's essentially saying: be pleasant, thoughtful, and engaging in your conversations, not harsh or boring.
